Prosecutors of the Inquisitions of Porto, Lamego and Tomar
Cardinal Henrique de Aviz, Inquisitor General of Portugal, in 1541 created four local tribunals of the Portuguese Inquisition: Evora, Coimbra, Lamego and Porto, and one additional in Tomar was created in 1542. The last three ones disappeared between 1544 and 1547 at the latest, shortly after the suspension of the activity of the Inquisition in Portugal by the Pope Paul III.
Each of these tribunals had one prosecutor (promotor)
Promotor of the Tribunal of Lamego
- Francisco de Fonseca (1541-1547?)
Promotor of the Tribunal of Porto
- Joao de Avelar (1541-1547?)
Promotor of the Tribunal of Tomar
- Antonio da Costa (c. 1542-1547?)
